Description
Classic Flan with Caramel
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 can of condensed milk (397 g)
- 1 can of evaporated milk (354 ml)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add the cup of sugar and heat until melted and golden amber. This will take a few minutes.
- Pour the hot caramel into a flan mold, tilting the mold to evenly coat the bottom. Allow to cool and solidify.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add the condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla, and mix well until fully combined.
- Pour the flan mixture over the caramel in the mold.
- Place the mold in a baking tray. Fill the tray with hot water halfway up the mold (this is called a water bath).
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool at room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before unmolding.
- To unmold, run a knife around the edges of the flan and flip it onto a plate. The caramel should pour over the flan.
Notes
- Make sure to let the flan cool completely before refrigerating.
- For best results, serve chilled.
