Description
Classic homemade vanilla flan that’s sure to please everyone.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can of evaporated milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup of sugar (for caramel)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a medium skillet, add the cup of sugar and let it melt, stirring gently until it turns golden. Remove from heat and pour the caramel into a flan mold, covering the bottom and sides.
- In a large bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat well until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the flan mixture over the caramel in the mold.
- Place the mold in a baking tray and add hot water to the tray, making sure the water reaches halfway up the mold (this will help cook the flan in a water bath).
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool at room temperature before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert onto a plate.
Notes
- Make sure to stir the sugar constantly while melting it to avoid burning.
- Chilling the flan allows it to set properly for a better texture.
